I am trying to install a natika backup camera but I can’t figure out where to mount it. I already drilled a whole to the left of the license plate light but I don’t see it going through to anywhere. Do you have any ideas? Thank you.

Hi. Have you removed the interior trim panel? If you drilled through the exterior sheet metal, you probably did not go through the interior trim piece or the interior sheet metal. This means you need to remove the trim panel and then look in between the sheet metal.

It would be easiest if you take a picture of the outside where you drilled the hole and then lift the tailgate and take a picture of what you are looking on the inside. Thanks

Okay, I will definitely send a picture and yes I have removed the interior trim panel. I drilled a hole right next to the license plate light which is right under the Chrysler logo on that plastic piece.

Okay, seeing it will help. Thanks. It sounds like it should be there but just by the sound of it, maybe it didn't go through the the interior sheet metal. There is an interior "skeleton" sheet metal that may be hiding it. I should be able to help better once I see the inside and out. Thanks

Okay. That makes sense. That black plastic that you drilled into will actually come off, so you drilled into it but that did not go through the sheet metal. I would suggest just removing the tag light that is right next to it and see if you can feed the wires through it and see them on the other side. If not, you may need to get a longer drill bit and run it further up through to get through the metal.

If you can picture what is happening, you drilled vertical and are running parallel with the sheet metal. This is not a bad thing, just need to get access to the cavity that you drilled into.

Let me know if this doesn't make sense.
