What you described sounds like it could be related to a faulty crankshaft position sensor. When they begin failing, heat adversely will affect them.

Since the vehicle won't start, we need to check for both spark to the plugs and fuel. If the crankshaft sensor is bad, there will likely be no spark.

Also, see if it will start for a couple of seconds and then stall using starting fluid. If it does, then we know it is a fuel-related issue.
