Hi,

This can be cased by several things. I need a bit more information.

Did the engine restart? Is the check engine light staying on when the engine is or was running? Have there been any symptoms prior to this that something could be failing?

Let me know.
Joe

Check engine light stay on. The vehicle did not restart. The vehicle didn’t show any symptoms that I was aware of. Thank you for your help.

Hi,

If the check engine light was staying on with the engine running prior to the problem, the first thing we need to do is check for diagnostic trouble codes. Here is a video showing how it is done:

I realize most people don't own a scanner, but often times a parts store will lend or rent one to you. By retrieving the codes, it will point us in the right direction.

If you can't get a scanner, we need to check for spark and fuel to the engine. Here are two links that show how it is done. You will need a fuel pressure gauge, but most parts stores will lend you one.

Here are the directions specific to your vehicle for checking fuel pressure. The manufacturer's specs are included in the directions and the attached pic correlates with the directions.

FUEL PRESSURE CHECK

CAUTION: Before disconnecting fuel line, release fuel pressure from fuel line to eliminate danger.

NOTE: Prepare pans or saucers under the disconnected fuel line because the fuel may spill out. The fuel pressure cannot be completely released because Z50 models do not have fuel return system.

Use Fuel Pressure Gauge Kit (J-44321) to check fuel pressure.
1. Release fuel pressure to zero. Refer to "FUEL PRESSURE RELEASE".

2. Install the inline fuel quick disconnected fitting between fuel damper and injector tube.
3. Connect the fuel pressure test gauge (quick connector adapter hose) to the inline fuel quick disconnected fitting.
4. Turn ignition switch ON and check for fuel leakage.
5. Start engine and check for fuel leakage.
6. Read the indication of fuel pressure gauge.

At idling: Approximately 350 kPa (3.57 kg/sq.cm , 51 psi)

7. If result is unsatisfactory, Go to next step.
8. Check the following.
- Fuel hoses and fuel tubes for clogging
- Fuel filter for clogging
- Fuel pump
- Fuel pressure regulator for clogging

If OK, replace fuel pressure regulator.
If NG, repair or replace.
