I had a cylinder four misfire and was told I needed a motor. They put the motor in, but the car was still acting up, so they put a computer in and had it programmed, but the car is still skipping and now drivable. What could be wrong with it?

Hi,

Is the problem still related to cylinder 4? I'm not sure what they used to justify replacing an engine with 50,000 on it, but apparently, that wasn't the issue.

Here is the thing: For a cylinder to misfire, there are 4 possible causes, timing, ignition spark at the spark plug, fuel to the cylinder, or compression. Were any of those things mentioned?

Presently, is the check engine light staying on, and if so, has the computer been scanned for diagnostic trouble codes? If so, do you know what they are?

Take a look through this link in the interim. I think you may find it of interest.

Let me know as much as you can related to the problem and what has been done.

Take care,

Joe
