Modified 1973 Jeep with Chevrolet V8. My fuel gage doesn't work so I ordered a ending units on Ebay but my sending unit includes a fuel pump since it has a Edelbrock 4 barrel carburetor and manifold. The units I got also has a smaller hole for the unit to go into. Why can't I find the correct unit to replace with? The fuel pump works but not the sending unit for the fuel gauge.

Hi,

Is the sending unit you got for a 1973 Jeep? Also, you said the new unit has a smaller hole for the unit to go into. Which hole are you referring to?

The idea that you are running an electric pump in a 1973 tank will make this a bit tricky. Also, in the pics above, the assembly looks like it is the old unit. Do you have pics of the new one and where the problem is located?

Let me know.

Joe

I was talking about the hole in the gas tank that the fuel gage measuring unit goes into. I ordered a new unit but the hole is much smaller than the existing unit. The old one is about 3 inches in diameter and the new one is about 2 1/2 inches. I am fine with replacing the fuel pump from inside the tank to where the Chevrolet V8 has it. I just need to find a fuel measuring system that fits my hole.

The only thing I can suggest is to take a measurement and then see what is out there. Hopefully, you'll find something.

I wish I had a better answer. However, this is a unique situation. If you have a chance, let me know how things turn out for you.

Take care,

Joe
