2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT; 91,000 miles; I just purchased this vehicle. The gas cover states that preimum fuel is to be used. What octane is premium? And, is it ok if I use 87 octane?

Thanks,
Greg

I have 2000 eclipse GT also. 100,000. It doesn't matter whether you use premium or reg. Just better performance with premium. And maybe better mileage. I dont see the difference. And I haven't had any trouble

Thanks for the information. With current gas prices, 20 cents a gallon for premium is a lot of additional money over the course of a year.

The main cars they recommend 93 Octane is one Turbocharged cars, but your model isnt turbo, so 87 Octane is fine, it wont harm your car. But just remember that when the gasoline isnt as powerfull to make a perect cumbustion, it tends to build carbon in the valves.
