I have a 1997 Mitsubishi 3000GT. I am wondering when you turn the air conditioning on should the idle go up or should it remain the same. I recently had the alternator replaced. At a complete stop the idle is at 1000 rpm. It does not move. Is this correct. Any information you would be able to give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you Gina Richmond. Virginia

Hi Gina,

There is a built in rpm compensator when the AC is turned on or off so the rpm should remain stable if everything is working correctly.

However 1000 is a bit high, it should be between 750 to 850.
