1999 Mitsubishi Galant Check engine light

My check engine light came on and I got a diagnostic read, that said it was the oxygen sensor. When I replaced the sensor the light was still on now I can, t figure out what it could be. Please help!

I had this happen with my '02 It was the EGR valve. If you did not have the light go out even immediately after service, unplug the battery for about 10 minutes then plug it back in and the light will be off. If it comes back on you still have a problem.
