Electrical problem
1996 Mitsubishi Eclipse 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual 117k miles

Car has been running perfect, until a week ago, when I was driving at a constant speed, the engine shut off for no apparent reason. I checked everything, and found the ignition fuse was blown. I bought a new battery, and terminal cables thinking the corrosion was the problem. The car was running fine again after that, and I thought it was fixed, until two days ago, the engine stopped again! Again, the ignition fuse blew, and I had purchased an extra in case that happened. When I went to change the fuse, it blew as soon as I inserted it! What else could it be? Also, the lights inside and out work, the horn, and door chime works still, but the wipers, radio, and tach gauges do NOT work with the fuse blown. Any ideas would be very helpful. Thanks in advance.

I had the same thing wrong on mine and it ended up being the wires to the altenator all I did was change out the wires and it fixed the problem, there is a tube the runs from the intake to the exhaust, and it gets hot burned thru the insulation on the wirew exposed then and was shorting out sesndin all the power from the battery back into the fuse and blowing it.
