Brakes problem
2002 Mitsubishi Diamante 6 cyl Automatic 78000 miles

Went to Goodyear Svc store because I was hearing squealing and rubbing sounds each time I drove my car. Goodyear inspected my car and informed me that I needed to have my front and rear pads replaced which I had them do. When vehicle was done and when I drove, I did not hear anymore squealing and rubbing sounds but when it came time for me to apply my brakes, I would hear my brakes squealing. What can it be? Its been over a month since the repair. I called them and was told to bring car back in for them to check. Once they check it again and find out that something else needs to be repaired (such as my rotors or whatever) and that it would be an extra charge to have whatever else they found to be replaced or repaired, can they do this? Shouldn't they have noticed the extra replacement or repair when they inspected the first time and informed me that only the front and rear pads needed to be repaired? I am wondering if they are giving me the run around only because I am a woman and so they can charge me lots of $$$ because do not know anything about vehicles. Please advise.

Hi there,

I feel that they may have not machined the rotors when they did the brakes first time round. This is something that should be done as if not you are shure to get brake noises as the rotors have hard hot spots in them. Often new rotors are fitted as they can be very inexpensive and make the job complete along with flushing the old brake fluid. I would be asking the question why was this not done in the first place. But you will have to just go back and try and get a good result for your self.
