It all started like this:
I got check engine light and vehicle stall.

When checked 1 ignition coil was bad. After replacing that 1 ignition coil. The check engine light went off.

The vehicle was working fine at high speeds and idle but a misfire occurs at 18 and 25 mph.

So changed the whole 4 coil packs and spark plugs. Still the same problem.
Changed the fuel pump. Still the same problem.

The problem went away after closing the EGR valve and running.

So replaced the EGR valve with brand new. But the problem is still there.
Do not know what the issue is.

It was working fine until 1 ignition coil went bad.

The scanner doesn't read any errors either. Until we cruise the vehicle and pick live cylinder misfire counts data on scanner.

It shows 1 and 3 cylinder misfire counts.

FYI ; The 1 coil pack was not Nissan original ignition coil pack. It was a New Era brand coil pack which was much cheap but same code number which fits the vehicle.

Vehicle has no issue after closing the EGR valve. R.

Could this be the issue? Or something else?

Good morning,

I see you replaced the coils but what about the plugs? They are more of a failure than the coils.

The EGR system, I would check the passages for any carbon build up. If there is carbon build up, the valve will flutter causing the issue you are describing.

Changed all the spark plugs.
One thing that I noticed was cylinder 3 spark plug had turn dark after 1 week of replacing spark plug than the others.

The mechanic here said would check exhaust line for any leaks. Is the exhaust line and EGR system same?

No, they are separate.

If the passages are clear, have him d a back pressure test on the exhaust. If you have a converter that is partially plugged, it will back up into the EGR system.
