1976 MG Midget Car shuts down gauges stop working

The fuel pump went out, we replaced with an electric pump like the one that was on it, now the engine spurts and then shuts off and all of the gauges stop working, if we wait about 30 minutes it will start back up, it does this every time.

check all the grounds that are on the car first. yo may have a bad ground that is causeing this. There may be one on the wiring harness that a scrw was left ou tof a clamp and that could cause your problem. if all your fuses are good anyhow. also check the wire connections by the ignition switch connector.
