The car starts instantly on the key, idling perfectly, but will bog out when I attempt to accelerate. The carb has been cleaned and overhauled and timing seems to be spot on. Any suggestions as to what can be causing the problem and how to correct it? Appreciate your assistance.

it depends if it does this when cold or hot. If it does it cold then the choke isn't operating properly which can be a problem with the zenith stromberg carb if that is what is on your car which came with them stock. If it does it all the time then it may just not having oil in the diaphragm. Or the diaphragm is leaking. To check for oil in the diaphagm there is a plastic screw right on top. Use 20w oil to fil it or the regualar carb oil.
