Electrical problem
1999 Mercury Villager 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

door open/ajar light will not go out. The interior lights stay on. I believe it is on the rear hatch door. Where is this sensor located?

Hello -

To better assist you is your model just the Villager or the Estate or the Sport. Also please tell me your engine size in liter.

If you don't see a plunger in the door frame area, then take some WD40 and spray the door latch assembly, the part that locks around the door striker when the door is closed. Spray them all really good. Open and close several times, spray, open and close. Do this to all doors and let me know what happens.

I have lubricated both sides of the door. It had been necessary for me to adjust the door closures. The door was not opening correctly. Is the switch somehow located in the closure assemblies? There is no plunger I can find anywhere around the door.

Hello -

I didn't get the answer if your vehicle is just a Villager, or the Estate or the Sport model. Also the engine size in liter. It makes it better to look up your specific vehicle.

I don't see it on the wiring diagram and there is no specific figure for the switch. But most likely it is in the door closure assembly.

Why was the door not opening correctly... Are you sure the hinge isn't the problem?

Did the light etc come on before the adjustment?

Look on the side of the dash also for plunger.......
