I have a 94 Mercury Sable LS with 44,000 miles on it. It just had a complete service with oil change and check of all fluids. It will go into gear and can be driven for a while but then as it warms up it will stop moving.

There is a Technical service bulliten on your tranny. Bulletin # 98-3-7
the bonded seal on the forward clutch piston intermittently does not seal on 3-2 downshift.
The repair is to replace the forward clutch piston with part # F8DZ-7A262-AB
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Call ford and ask about the price.
