Air conditioner noise

What would cause my 2002 Mercury Sable to make a loud noise sounds like it is coming from around the pulley system and the air stopped working. It cuts on and blows but does not blow cold air. Both happened at the same time. Bought a charger kit for air and the reader said it did not need to be charged?

Check AC compressor and clutch assembly. Here is a guide to help you change it out.

Does an automatic have a clutch assembly? Would that and the compressor cause the noise as well as the air problems?

Make sure the engine is warming to proper operating temp. Next, with the engine running, warm, and the heater on, feel both heater core hoses. They should be hot. If not, try flushing the heater core. If they are both hot, check the blend air door for proper operation.

You have a problem with the blend air door. On your model year it is either actuated by electric or engine vacuum.

My air conditioner blows HOT air.

This past winter, I inadvertantly hit the A/C button instead of the heat and it started blowing cold.

I immediately hit the heat button. No problem.

Now, that the weather's been getting warmer, A/C just blows hot air.

A/C is fully charged with no leaks

Hoses (tubes) from the condenser get VERY cold but the cold air never seems to make it to the vents.

Anyone have a clue?

Thanks!

I had this above mentioned car and yesterday suddenly the fan that blows the hot air suddenly quit working. I mean it would not work at low speed, ( setting 1, 2 and 3 ) but it still works at the full. The problem is that it warms the car too much. How can I fix it that it works on all setting.
