Hi, my car's heater begins to work fine after the car runs a few minutes & then is driven a few miles. However, while the car idles when stopped, the heater blows cold. Do you know why this would be & is there a self-help solution?

Check the thermostat and make sure the coolant level is correct.

I agree with RASMATAZ, when the engine is cold remove the radiator cap and check the coolant level. Also, the heater core I would use a garden hose to flush out the core. Please go over this video to help you fix the problem.
