This is a very interesting question, I would be thinking that as static build up can reach very high voltages (some times in the order of 10,000 volts is not uncommon) but extremely low amperage (thats the bit that dose the damage) it would act as a voltage spike with in the cars electrical system, not unlike hooking up a battery backward maybe. The delicate circuitry can be easily damaged by a voltage spike and this may be the reason that your key less entry was affected, I will look into this a bit deeper, but in the meantime get an anti static strip attached to the car as this will discharge the static build up constantly to earth(the road) rather than as a static discharge through you when you touch the car and make the circuit to earth.
