1994 Mercury Marquis V8 Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 90025 miles

I just recieved my car from a family member who had passed away. 1994 Grand Marquis GS with 90,025 miles on it. we had issues with the car popping so we replaced the Wires and a noticeable plug wire. The car after that ran good but then day after it sounded conjested so we figured the muffler was messed up. Then day after that I drove it and it wouldnt go over 20 trying to get it to my place. AFter cleaning out gas and filter it does go over that just hesitates on a go. We are going to put the rest of the new wires on to see if it helps this hesitation. With the hesitation. The Car starts up cold of course and Idles up and down... on its own. like someone is reving it. then once warm it relaxes and sounds good. But Once I take it out and stop at a stop sign, stop light, or even slow down enuff to turn... it hesitates to go then i let go and push again and most of the time it will take off. and be fine until the next stop. It was alot worse before we ran old gas out (it sat for 2yrs) which was a gold color and put new gas in which was almost clear witha yellow tint. We did that and changed the fuel filter out which had black stuff comming out of it has it was dripping cuz it was so full.

Anyways... The Muffler we took off because they're was a big piece of somthing broken up and rattling in it. some pieces fell out. I put a pic on of the old gas. Dont know if you can tell from that. So main issue now is HESITATION ON A GO AFTER A SLOW DOWN OR STOP! Help ASAP!

Those parts in the muffler may have been pieces of the cat converter. If it is falling apart it will create problems just like you describe. Also have a manual fuel pressure gauge put on it to see if it holds good pressure and can keep it there while driving
