1983 Mercury Marquis alternator

Having a problem with burning the alternator up. Have already put 2 new ones on it. The parts house says that there is a short somewhere. I can't find it. Could you tell me where it might be?

Have you checked your regulator relay and the regulator itself?

Thanks for getting back to me. I put a new regulator on did not check the regulator relay. Did not no it had one. My book got torn up. Where is it located.

It goes through the starter relay. It's located at the right fender apron in front of the shock tower.
