Just recently my left front end has starting making a grinding/groaning noise intermittently when braking and/or turning left. I'm thinking it is brakes as my last full maintenance checkup stated that I didn't have alot left on the pads. Any other thoughts? Is there a way I can determine if it is anything else? Thanks.

sounds like it could definitely be the brakes. you could pretty easily just lift the car, pop the wheel off and take a look at the pads. although, i had a problem like this a couple years ago, i actually had a basically shattered wheel bearing. hopefully it's just your pads, wheel bearings can be a real hastle to replace.
