The trans is a 722/3 In the valve body which valves do 3rd and 4th gear, as I was told the spools are aluminium, which maybe sticking when hot, if you pull it down a gear and boot it, then it won't up shift unless you stop and restart, or are there any other ideas, maybe a broken spring, as the oil pan is pretty clean ie; no filings or lumps.

Where you able to perform free up or clean the valve body when you change the fluids and filter? Dumper 53 if you have the valve body diagram is for shifting 3rd and 4th. Let me know if you need the diagram for valve body. Another case scenario would be the fluid you use, was it that way before you changed fluid? By the way did you change fluid?

The car was like this when I got it, the previous owner said it had been parked up for six months, and new nothing of the problem (surprise ) It got a bit better after the oil was changed, so in desperation stuck a bottle of "motor up" trans stuff in and and got better again, and was fairly good on about a 150km trip, but did it a couple of times again the next day , but if you slip it into neutral and let the engine drop back to an idle it comes right again, so may just need a clean, so some diagrams of the valve body would be much appreciated, many thanks bombz

Send me your private e mail. Check valve body, and temperature throttle, the whole valve body needs to be taken down and I still need more information to be able to intelligently answer your inquiry
