Well first off, getting the codes pulled will help in figuring the problem out. There is usually a common problem in this type of symptom. Crank position sensors are a common failing part that causes this issue/symptom BUT only if the codes are corresponding. Most crank sensors will either have codes stored relating to the crank sensor or may not have any codes at all. If the vehicle has another code then your problem could be in another direction.
