1990 Mercedes Benz 560sel V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 200k miles

Can water pump be replaced without having to remove the V-belt pulley? If V-belt pulley must be removed, how does one prevent crankshaft from rotating while removing the 27 mm bolt? Put distributor back on to track any crankshaft rotation, hope timing isn't compromised.
Thank you for your response.

The Reply was step by step instructions from the Repair Manual. It does not state anywhere to remove the belt? I guess some people are just too "know it ALL" to accept the correct advice?. Thanks for the feedback
