I took my car to the Mercedes dealer for routine servicing. He told me I had "two broken rear springs which needed to be replaced". The car has been driven almost exclusively on interstate highways. I have not ever hit any potholes. There is no history of damage of any kind. What is going on?

First let me say I am not a MB mechanic, but looked at this because no one else stepped to the plate. I did look up your car, and do not find metal springs on the rear suspension, your as far as I can tell only has air springs(rubber bladders) on the rear..so I dont know if I would believe this? Ask to see the problem with the car on a lift. A broken coil spring is easy enough to see...
