Went for smog test but failed due to CK Engine Light. Replaced MAF and Cleared the code.. Took back to Smog Center who said I must drive to clear the engine computer 200 or more miles. Is there a quick way to clear the engine memory like disconnecting the battery for a while? If not, is 200 driving miles enough or should I drive more to be sure? The smog center wont retest even with Ck Engine light off and Im running out of time else must pay another complete smog test

Hi satchosan,

Thank you for the donation.

The codes can be cleared by disconnecting the battery for a while but you would still have to drive some distance to get the computer to relearn and have the system readiness in working order.

Alternatively you can clear the codes with a scanner and if you do not have the scanner, you can try your local parts outlets, most of them provides the code reading and erasing free.
