I have had my Mercedes 1990 300e sense last year, it came with 120,000 or so miles and never had a problem with it up untill now with around 170,000 I put the miles on mostly on cold mountain roads driving from LI to Jersey where I snowboard.

Either way, my car runs rough when its idling, it idles around 500RPM and it kinda makes the car shake, but if I pop it into neutral (which I have to do so it doesn't stall) and keep it reved around 1000 you can barely feel the engines running at all.

When I go to accelerate from a stop (lets say at a red light) my engine will stall, but im thinking the only real problem is the seemingly low idle.

Is there any way to up the idle from 500 to between 1000 and 1500 or so

Hi there,

Thank you for the donation,

This is sounding like a fuel or vacuum related problem, have you had a tune done recently? Fuel filters are very critical and a dirty blocked filter can cause such symptoms. There are a few adjustments that can be done in the injector system, but these are extremely critical and very precise and should only be attempted by a qualified Benz tech, I would also check for any vacuum leaks, it wont take much to up set the fuel ratio, also make sure that the ignition system is ok, no burnt segments or rotor in the cap, start here.
