2004 Mercedes Benz 240d Water Damage

My mercedes recently had water damage. I got stuck in traffic in heavy rains and eventually the water came into the car, up to my legs. The car immediately shut off and now the dealer says the car is writen off, is there any way this can be fixed? They said it needs a new engine and then possibly 1-15 control that they don't know are damaged or not, they will only know after they put in a new engine? Is this true, can I get it fixed? If so, where?

I bought over 300 vehicles from Katrina all water damaged, including the BMWs 750 IL which took me a year to fix. German cars are made with a special aloud in the engines, water does not hurt them, it will be a very complex operation, I can step you through it if you are mechanically inclined.

I'm sorry I got to you too late, I would've liked to purchase that Mercedes from you but now it looks like I will have to buy it from the insurance auction, which I am an expert at.

I would have gladly done that. But I do not live in the United States. I live in Jamaica and the cost of the salvage would have been quite expensive for you. I bought the E 240, 2004 model for US $ 90,000. Import duty on vehicles here is 138%.
