I have a 1998 MAZDA B4000 V6 4x4 with 123,000 miles. Periodically I loose the ability to operate in 4 wheel drive, accompanied by intermittant engaging/disengaging of the drive -- not by my command -- and then I get the 4 wheel drive dash light blinking 6 times on a repeating cycle of about 60 seconds. 1) what's the meaning of the 6 blink code? 2) Is there any place on the web one can go to have answered this question? {Local dealer says no, of course} -- WD Goodwin

Could not find the blink codes, but the scan tools should be able to read the P1800's codes for 4x4, check for vacuum leak at the knuckles!

The 6-blink code on the 4x4 light of your 1998 Mazda B4000 V6 4x4 typically points to an issue related to the transfer case shift control system. Here is how to change the transfer case actuator motor out to help fix the problems, be sure to clear the codes once completed. Check out the images (below). Let us know if you need anything else.
