The EGR valve on our 04 Mazda Tribute broke. There was a large hole in the side of the valve. Before the valve broke the vehicle was running very poorly and broke as we were limping back to the house. I replaced the EGR valve however the vehicle is not running correctly. In fact it ran better with the vale that had the huge gaping hole in the side of it. I replaced the EGR position sensor and still no change. I disconnected the battery in hopes of resetting the computer and still no change. What next?

I had the same problem. The catylatic converters were plug up. There are 3 of these.

Ok, so the escape and tribute have 3 cats. One in each of the exhaust manifold and one at the collector. On my vehicle one of the cats in the manifold deteriorated and the shrapnel from that plugged the one at the collector. Ok, but here is the catch. There are no cats or manifolds/cats any where. Mazda and Ford both have no idea when there will be one available. It is covered under the 80k warranty but what good is that if there are no parts. At least this is what the dealer is telling me.
