Air Conditioning problem

I have a 2000 Mazda MPV with 150,000 km. The air conditioning needs repair. It blows warm air and the problem is that the line has a leak in it and I'm faced with a $1000 estimate to replace the line. Is there a less expensive solution?

Where is the leak? If its where you can easily get at it I would go check around for a junk yard that would have the line. Use new seals when installing the line then have the ac/ recharged. You can also get a do it yourself recharging kit from a auto parts store.
