EGR Valve/Intake Manifold

I have a 2000 Mazda 626 with the check engine light on. A while back, a local repair shop replaced the EGR valve and I was told that they also blew out the system. I was charged for 2 hours of labor.

The check engine light came back on within a day or two and I took it back to the shop. (Same error code both times) After looking at it for a while now, they are telling me that they found a blockage in the intake manifold and that it needs to be blown out. They are telling me that this is a job that calls for 4 hours of labor.

My question is whether this intake manifld blockage should have been taken care of when they replaced the EGR valve or if they maybe should never have replaced the EGR valve and just checked out the problem more carefully in the beginning and just cleared the intake manifold blockage at that time?

Depending on your answer to the question, is there anything I can do because I paid $450 for the first job and now they want another $350 to do what seems to me like something that should have been taken care of the first time.

I appreciate any guidance and/or advice. Thanks

any OBDII codes problem should be diagnose...most competence shop charge from 1- 2 hrs to diagnose the problem and repair ,upon clear code drive cycle verfications on mode 6 or data scan afterward are extra....price should quote after the problem has been idiagnose & isolated........ given modern OBD2 ...1 hr minimum ,2 hr is reasonable depends on tight area to get testing which is time consuming...n some sytem can't be tested unless the proper conditions ..which again..take time..lets be realistic ....if no1 pay for diagnostic ....they probably just do brake job spending same amount of time and make more money...would u?
