How do you know if your mass airflow sensor is bad?

Based on the symptoms and/or diagnostic fault codes.

Usually vehicle is pretty good at posting a fault code for it. But to check it using a scanner with live data here is how to check it.

Verify there are no vacuum leaks. If okay look at mass air flow data and set for grams per second. In theory since you have a 5.0L you should see close to 5g/s but maybe a little higher lime 6-7 at idle with loads off.

If okay take vehicle up to 45 mph then hut the gas to wide open throttle for a second or two. Reading should be 100 or higher. If all is good then mass air flow is working properly. If not much of a change then it is most likely faulty.

Hope info helps you out.
