Manual transmission swap, how do I remove the axles?

Swapping a salvaged transmission into a 2000 Celica GT-S.
Salvage yard left the axles in the transmission.
Cannot remove one side. It slides slightly, but then catches on something that feels like a ring or something. My guy doesn't want to break it, so he is leaving it to me to get the axle removed. Heading to the manual transmission shop later today, but looking for insight. Thanks.

Hi,

There is a snap ring that holds it in place. I'm basing this on the MT being out of a 2000 Celica.

To remove the axle from the transmission, you need a slide hammer. Take a look at pic 1 below and let me know if it helps.
