My 93 Lincoln Towncar has a transmission shifting problem, I can be driving down the road in drive position and the transmission will start shifting in what seems to be second gear and sometimes into neutral, it has very irrectic shifting, and sometimes it will shift good for a day or so. Any imformation will be greatly appreciated Thank's dan

Thought this might help someone else who has the same problem as I described about my 93 Towncar Automatic Transmission, I replaced the Neutral Safety Switch/Sensor and that took care of the shifting problem, the transmission shifts smoothly now, this sensor on older cars keeps the engine from cranking in gear and lets it crank only in Park or Neutral, the sensor does the same on the 93 Towncar but it also tells the transmission what gear its suppose to be in and I guess it sends signals to the PCM or vice-versa, from what I read about the switch/sensor over time it gets moisture and corrosion because some of the OEM Switches was not sealed and picked up moisture causing shifting problems, it is mounted on the drivers side of the transmission right above the transmission pan and is Very Easy to change only two bolts holds it in place, I know all transmission problems don't relate to this switch but it did in my case Thank God.
