2004 Land Rover Discovery 2

My 2004 Disco never had fog lights, but after a fender bender, I decided to upgrade the front bumper with the fog light holes, original fog lights including the front fog light switch (YUG000720PUY) and I had to replace the rear fog light switch (YUE000290PUY) with a new one (YUE000300PUY) even if I don't have the rear fog lights.
Besides checking the fuse I really don't know what more there is to do to make my lights work.

Appreciate any guidance

Juan

Relay 12 was missing, so I removed relay 11 that had a "snow flake" looking picture from the diagram at the fuse/relay box cover, so I insertted the relay to location 12, but no luck.
I followed the owners manual that states that to use the fog lights, the main headlights must be ON.
Question 1.
Is relay 11 the same type that works in slot 12?
Question 2.
Someone mentioned that the BCU (computer) in the car must be activated by the dealer, so the fog lights can work. Is that true?

Thanks.

That relay is for the A/C compressor and should be the same, I doubt that there is any factory re set for the lights, I see nothing in the data base, but a call to a dealer will confirm this, and did you actually check for power at fuse 3 (fog lamps front)?

I called the dealer and they said that an activation is needed from the computer, but there is a chance that may not work, if the fuse block is not the one that supports this feature.
The activation is around $140.00 and the fuse block is big time money. I don't trust what they say.
Can you confirm that one of the options is correct.

Thanks

Hi there,

This I do not know, but what I would be doing and I did this with my 95 TDi I fitted my own fog lights, fitted a remote relay and wired it up to the original fog light switch via the head lights so they only come on independently or with low beam, most mechanic can do this with out much bother, I would forget the factory re set stuff and find an auto electrician and go this way, there will be no problem with the car electrics doing it this way.

I will do that my self, but I don't think the original fog switch will work, since it's a momentary switch.
I'm just going to rig-up my own nice looking switch and a 15A external relay, just like I've done in the past with my early weels.

Thanks for the help.

On my 95 TDi, there is the rear fog switch L/Top I just hooked up to this for main switch so the rear comes on with the new fronts, but what you want to do will be fine, a simple neat switch and you will be OK, some times this is the best way to go.

I noticed that when I installed the new front and rear fog switches, the LED on the rear switch lights when I press on it and turns off if I press again.
I gues if I had rear fog lights, they would work, but probably not if I'm driving forward.

Are the end of the wires below or above the rear of the car?

A dumb question, what is a TDi?

Thanks

The TDi is the 2.5 liter diesel turbo, this is in Australia, maybe they plate them as a different version over there?

I see that this is an old topic, but I am sure others will read this. Wiring driving lites is easey. This is what I did.#1 take the wiring direction, use color pens and color the diagram.#2 spread out the wires on the table, and hook everthing up, this way you can understand what it all looks like before you put them on your truck.#3 put them on your truck. It's that easy.
