1996 Land Rover Discovery Takes a while for heating to sta

I have a 1996 Land Rover Discovery. When I put the heater on it takes a long while for it to give out heat. I have to rev the engine for the heater to kick in. I replaced the thermostat and it still does the same thing. Can someone tell me what could be the cause for this. Thanks so much

Start by having a cooling system flush to remove any blockages !
