When I shut my car off there is a knocking or clicking noise that comes from inside my dash on the drivers side. The knocking/clicking continues for as long as fifteen minutes after the car is turned off.

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros.com.

Often times, a clicking is attributed to a faulty temp, mode, or air flow actuator. These actuators are responsible for changing air flow directions, providing fresh air, or temperature control. Inside the actuators are plastic gears. What happens is the teeth on the plastic gears strip. As a result, you hear plastic gears clicking together until it finally turns and the cycle is complete.

Take a look at this link. It shows how in general a blend/temperature actuator is replaced. Also, it describes what happens and what you hear. Read through this and let me know if you feel it mirrors the symptoms. If it does, we need to determine which actuator is bad and then I can provide directions for replacement.

Let me know your thoughts.

Take care,
Joe
