After driving for several miles, I can hear a very high-pitched whine, not very loud, I have to turn down the radio to hear it. When I apply brakes, the noise stops; when I release the brakes the noise begins again. However, it isn't continual. It comes and goes.

More than likely, you have a brake pad dragging that when you apply the brakes it causes the noise to stop.

What I would do is lift the vehicle and drive it on jack stands to see if you can pinpoint the noise.

Then we need to replace the brakes on both tires of that axle.

Please run through this info and let me know what you find.

Thanks
