Hello, I recently purchased a key fob and had it programmed by an authorized locksmith, the key starts the truck, but does not lock/unlock, nor does the panic button work. I had him come out and program another fob (free of charge) and the same issue existed with that fob. I checked the M38 fuse that controls door locks, and also the doors lock automatically once I reach a certain speed, what could be the issue?

Was your vehicle equipped with the passive entry from the factory? If not you are going to have to get the sales codes added. Basically the key can be programmed but if it doesn't know that it has passive entry then it will not work.

Can you provide the last 8 of your VIN and I can check to see if it is has the option?

Once we find this out we will know what to do next. However, you should just be able to get this working if we do what this member did in this post.

Please follow this all the way through because once the sales codes are there he did a WIN reset and it started working.

There is a lot of info in this post but if your vehicle is equipped the same as this one then we can get it working.

Okay. That is what I suspected. You do not have the sales code for the passive entry system.

You need to have a dealer or a shop add the sales code GXM and then they need to do two things. First they need to do what is called a reconfiguration after the sales code is added.

Then they need to do what is called a WIN reset. Once this is completed the keys should start working.

As you can see this other member purchased a scan tool and did this themselves. However, the dealer is the only one that I know that can add the sales code.

Let us know what questions you have and we can go from there. Thanks

Thank you! Could I possibly have the guy that programmed my fob take care of this? Also if not, approximately how much would this be at the dealer?

No, I don't think the key guy could do it. This requires altering the way the vehicle is equipped and that is pretty much a dealer item.

I doubt the dealer would charge much because adding the code is done on the computer and takes about 2 minutes. But doing the reconfigure and WIN reset requires them hooking their scan tool called WiTECH to the vehicle and performing these functions.

I would call a dealer and ask for the service manager how much he would charge to do this. It is not hard but does require the use of their tool. More than likely they would charge an hour of labor so if their door rate is $100.00, they would charge $100.00. However, I would call and ask.

Let me know if you have questions or show them this post as they will understand these processes that need to be done.
