My car's security light came on several months ago. When you turn the key into the "off position, the cars system wouldn't shut down, and therefore running the battery dead. My manual told me a way to bypass this, by hitting a switch or button, located in the steering column. I did this for about a month, and car wouldn't start one day. With the Battery charged, it wouldn't start, attempt to turn over or even click. Had it took to a shop and put on computer. After resetting the security lock, it had an Error saying my key could not communicate with the engine compound? What can I do

Welcome to 2CarPros.

Is the security light staying on all the time now? Have you tried a spare key?

If the light is staying on all the time, try this. Turn the key to the run position and wait for about 10 minutes. If the light then turns off, see if it will start.

Let me know what you find.

Joe

I don't have a spare key, but as soon as I can get to my car, I will absolutely try your suggestion and get back with you. Turning the key to the run position and waiting 10 minutes, is that considered resetting security? If so, the shop says they have done that. They are just saying it will be a guessing game, and probably expensive. I don't know what to do about it.

Welcome back:

It doesn't reset or repair the issue. The purpose is to help determine if it is the immobilizer causing the issue. Basically, it bypasses the system.

Let me know what you find. I will watch for your reply. And, don't worry, we'll get it figured out.

Take care,
Joe
