I have a slight problem with my tsk model. When in sixth gear doing about fifty five mph the revs are about 1500 rpm, I get a juddering for a few seconds then it is fine. It is similar to being in to high a gear for the speed, it is okay if under that revs. As soon as it hits 1500 rpm it does it until about 1600 to 1700 rpm. Would this be pointing to dual mass flywheel? It also is a tad rough at start up, I also seem to need to give it a bit more revs to reverse as if the brakes are sticking slightly. Could this be one thing causing all those problems?
Thank you.

Hey,

Is the check engine light on and if so does it have any codes? Also have you changed the fuel filters recently?

Please let us know.

Best, Ken

Hi ken. It is not putting on the light or showing faults. I just noticed predictive text kicked in, it is the 2.0l tdi I have.

It sounds like it could be the mass air flow sensor, can you try cleaning it please here is a guide.

Please let us know what happens.

Morning Ken. A wee update on my problem. I put the car into get the timing belt done, the timing was off. I also have a new turbo as mine was leaking oil, the pick up pipe was partially blocked. Not got the car back yet to test it, just the service to get done today. If I get a chance to test it today I will let you know.
Thanks

Everything done including mass airflow sensors, still doing it. I remember something else I noticed, it seems you need slightly more revs when starting to reverse. Would it be possible its the start of dual mass flywheel?

I went out yesterday for a run in the car, It does it in 5th and 6th. If you are about 1500rpm and you put the boot down it misses anywhere between 1500 and 1800rpm, it just does it for a few seconds then it's fine. Anybody got any other ideas?
Thanks

It could be the injector pump is starting to go out, I don't think it is the dual mass flywheel becasue all that does is help with engine vibration.

Can you take a video of the problem and post it to youtube then send us the link?

Another little update. Had it in today hooked up to vag-com, no faults coming up. Looked at injector etc, everything coming back as ok. He took the egr valve off, its all good. I remember the turbo pipe came off, it was doing the same thing but worse in all gears. Once the pipe was back on, it still done it in 5th/6th. The pipes were checked and all looked safe and sound. I did take a video this morning, you can't really see anything.

I still have this problem. Both independent and vw have looked at it, nobody can get to the bottom of it. I am going try try a plug and play ecu, had something similar with a Audi I owned. I will update once I get round to it.

I tried the ecu, still the same. Also since I posted, I changed inner and outer cv joints as one had play. Still the same and no fault codes, looks like I will just have to live with it.

I am starting to lean toward the injector pump itself. Live with it for a while and see if it gets worse this will help tell us the pump is deteriorating and needs to be replaced. This is a common problem with diesel engines.

Hi ken. I just found this post again. I never got to the bottom of my problem, I just live with it. I intend to sell the car as is, I tried a shot of a new rear fuel pump, never helped either. It has never got any worse, I am back to thinking about when the turbo pipe came off. It was doing the exact same thing but worse, am I missing a split or cracked pipe somewhere.
Thank you
