RPM's are revving high as well. It is having trouble shifting. PLEASE SOMEONE! I need help. I am a college student and I need my car to get to school.

Do all the problems clear up when you refill the transmission? If so, you just have a leak that needs to be solved and nothing else. Wash the area with a spray can of brake parts cleaner or carburetor cleaner, then watch for where the fluid starts leaking from. Sometimes the seal around the shift lever leaks and the fluid runs down around the pan making it look like the pan gasket is leaking.

If you used a cork or felt pan gasket, those can be split if the pan bolts are over-tightened. We don't use gaskets too much anymore. On most cars we use gasket sealer from a tube. It's important to clean all the old gasket material off both sealing surfaces first. Both surfaces must be totally free of any oil residue or those sealers won't seal and you'll have a leak.
