Jeep ECM?

I have a 99 jeep wrangler. The speedometer is now going crazy. It bounces from 0-100+. The engine then tries to cut out. We have replaced the speed sensor and that has not helped. Also we have checked the gauge head and all wiring in between. After talking to the dealer, we think it may be the computer. Is there a way to inexpensively test it or is there another possible problem. I don't want to keep buying parts to chase the problem down.

I am having the same problem on my 97 Wrangler. What did your probelm turn out to be?

It was the ECM. It was fixed and runs fine now.
It wasn't cheap though. Over $800 and a good friend.

Replaced mine in a 99 Wrangler. Got it online from a aftermarket dealer. Paid about $250.00
