I have a 2002 Jeep Wrangler Sport, 6 cyl A/T.

When I start the jeep, 90% of the time it idles high (2000 rpm) and sits there. Sometimes it will come down too 500 RPM within a minute or so, sometimes not. It does this regardless of the temperature outside. Putting into drive/reverse will bring the idle down to a normal level, although you can feel the problem still until you start actually driving.

Recently it has also started acting oddly while driving it. Getting into 50-60 mph, I can feel it kind of. Lurch, as if it's losing acceleration then gaining it again. It's not hard. But it does it quite often. It is related to the idling issue.

About twice, I have had the engine die while moving slowly (stopping for a light, or turning in a parking lot). The idle was low, and then suddenly there's no power (was almost unnoticeable, until I go to turn the wheel and I have no power steering, etc).

Need to figure out what is causing this issue. Recently, my thermostat went out and caused the radiator to blow. We replaced the thermostat, radiator and radiator cap. It started having these other issues a few days after.

First anytime something starts after some work is done I try and get the person to look really good and ensure you do not have a vaccum leak somewhere or a sensor unplugged. Your problem could be either, especially a coolant sensor unplugged or not operating correctly. Get the motor scanned and see if there are any codes stored also. Please do this first and get back to us. Thanks Curt
