If you are low on fluid, this will cause your slippeage but if you have been driving it for long, your transmission could be bad now. To stop the leaks, you need to see where it is coming from (ie, the rear or front seal, or transmission pan) A lot of people use transmission pan gaskets from a regular auto parts store and these are thin and not worth your money, go to a dealer and order a better gasket to prevent leaks on the pan. If you fill your transmission up to the correct levels by following the manual instructions, and it still slips, chances are it will need rebuilt. Do not be talked into buying after market fluids that claim to help worn transmissions and fix them in anyway as these things do NOT work. Make sure that you add the correct type of fluid to your trans too. Also, any vehicle can have transmission problems and it is not specific to Jeeps. In fact, Jeeps have a really good reputation when it comes to transmissions if taken care of properly.
