I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. Just today the fuel guage was reading a 1/4 of a tank. i started it up let it run for a while and now its reading full. I put gas in it and now the guage is jumping all over the place. I filled the tank up and it will stay at full for a little while but then it starts to jump again. Why is this happening?

It sounds like the float sending unit is bad. One problem. The float is part of the fuel pump in the tank. You could drop the tank and have it checked, but chances are that is the problem.
