I've replaced carburator, spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor. I put a new engine in and still have problems. The engine will backfire and won't run. I've had a mechanic ajust carb, still backfires. Went I disconnect plug on back of carburator, it seems to run ok. Could this be a problem with the computer or how can I check to see if its an electicral problem? Is there a way to check the computer system or do that model and year have a computer system for the engine?

You can go to almost any auto shop and they can hook it up to a computer and find out what the problem is

These cars had a problem with the fuel line at the tank go bad and allow air to suck in causing the engine to run lean which it sounds like your problem is.
