Hi. I have recently acquired a 1988 Jeep cherokee, inline 6 I believe, 205,000 miles. When I bought the jeep, it had been abandoned on the highway, I checked it out and the steering stablizer was not bolted to the frame. It was attached by a bungee, I guess to keep from dragging the ground.
I got that all fixed and was hoping to hit the road; when I went to drive it, the steering still requires world's stongest man for operation. It does seem that when making a left turn it is easier, and the faster I'm moving as well. The power steering pump is operational as far as I know, but I don't really know.
Please if there are a couple of helpful tips you could provide, that would be great. I don't have any extra money or I wouldn't have bought a car from an auction to begin with. Any hints?
