I was repairing a misfire issue when I noticed that the rotor was completely fried. Not melted, but fried possibly due to an arc. I have replaced the cap, rotor, plugs, and wires. The rotor now clicks inside of the cap and is digging into the contact posts (next to eachother) inside of the cap. I think it may be that the shaft that runs the rotor may be loose, causing it to wobble and cause this issue.

The rotor is only catching #6 and #2 (next to eachother on right side of cap from front of engine). The shaft has a slight wobble to it. Keep in mind that this is the second cap/rotor I have put in. In the first set, the rotor desintegrated half way, possibly from an arc.I had already thought of your diagnosis, but it's only catching one side ( two pins). I have already checked to be sure the cap is sitting properly on the base. Even as a former mechanic, I'm baffled, and have never seen this before. Thank you for your time.

Ok with the cap off have someone crank engine see if rotor wobbles if so you could have bad bushing on shaft or a bent shaft
